The Sea in Common label

Label la Mer en commun

Nicole King’s book, “For living water”, has just been awarded the “La Mer en Commun” label by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition as part of the Year of the Sea 2025.

In the run-up to the next United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC), which France will host in Nice in June 2025, the French President has announced the organization of a “Year of the Sea” in France. The challenges of this conference will be to protect marine biodiversity, preserve the deep seas, combat illegal fishing and pollution, and accelerate the maritime energy transition. To support its central message, the Year of the Sea is entitled “La Mer en Commun” (“The Sea in Common”).

The aim of the label is to encourage and recognize all initiatives that contribute to the Year of the Sea’s central objective, which is to “maritimize minds”, i.e. to make as many people as possible aware of the importance of maritime issues, to foster a love of the marine world, and to arouse the desire to take action for the ocean.
