Man and water
The ecological context
My ecological inspiration came to me during my family’s summer holiday at a farm in Aix en Provence where I witnessed the local forest devastated by the irresponsible clearing of land to push through the National Highway A 41. After 12 years ( 1977 – 1997 ) as an international expert on water and pollution, I returned to my interest in painting.
Artistic meditations
For my paintings, I combine photographs representing industry and pollution with oil painting ( a natural ecological gesture that integrates time lived ).
The tension I wish to create in my painted aquatic eco-systems shuffles between my aim to paint a perfect picture and to portray a scene that coaxes the viewer to ask what exactly is real, what is imagined.
