The artistic process
Coral reefs are among the richest and most endangered marine ecosystems in biodiversity. Covering only 0.1 % of the ocean’s surface, the reefs are inhabited by one third of the total 300,000 marine species in the world’s waters. The alarming bleaching of the coral reefs ( 50% of the Great Coral Barrier Reef in Australia ) is caused by acidification of the seawater. Scientists predict the total disappearance of the reefs in the 21st century, if the production of green house gases is not drastically reduced.
